A licensed professional investigator’s job is to legally gather information and evidence which leads to determining the circumstances and facts involved in a situation. A professional investigator is required to use appropriate techniques and effort to exhaust all necessary leads and arrive at a conclusion that is unbiased and fairly represents the true facts and circumstances surrounding the allegations. Competent, professionally-trained and experienced investigators assist clients by locating difficult to find information, conducting research, reviewing documents and discovery materials, analyzing and photographing crime or accident scenes, interviewing parties and witnesses, obtaining signed or recorded statements, performing background investigations, preparing documentary and demonstrative evidence, and/or finding experts or testifying in court.
For matters that reach beyond the local geographical area, MCI is affiliated with professional organizations such as Intellenet.org, the World Association of Detectives (W.A.D.), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) to identify, consult with and rely on experts worldwide. MCI is also affiliated with local experts through the Pacific Northwest Investigators’ Association (PNAI) and the Washington Association of Licensed Investigators (WALI). Some cases require an investigator with specialized training for investigative activities such as computer forensics examination, document analysis, forensic accounting, social media monitoring and other investigation techniques.
MCI investigators can conduct legal investigations on behalf of their clients, and/ or provide assistance and guidance to persons or organizations facing issues that require the opinion of an experienced retired law enforcement fraud investigator/licensed private Investigator/Certified Fraud Examiner.
MCI is not engaged in the practice of law, and our role is limited to providing investigation-related services. We can closely coordinate our investigation with you or your attorneys so you retain control over the information and minimize any surprises. MCI can be your resource for a single workplace investigation or for a broader engagement to handle all of your workplace investigation needs. We can also complement your existing resources to investigate allegations which arise outside of the ordinary course of business but which are less than those situations requiring a full law-firm response.
You can choose MCI to handle part or all of a case that is being handled by your legal counsel. You’ll have an experienced investigator conduct your investigation for what a law firm might charge for a first-year associate.
